ALLIANCE

Emily Weber tossed a two-hit shutout as West Branch won the Alliance district. Brittany Lippencott and Brandi Snyder doubled for the Warriors who advance to the Akron regional to play Poland on Thursday at 5 p.m. at Firestone Stadium. For the Aviators, Marissa Crelba doubled.

Division IV

Columbiana 8, East Canton 1

BAZETTA TWP.

Katie Libb hit a three-run homer while Dakota DeAmicis’ two hits included a homer and drove in four runs for the Clippers in the district championship game. Hayley Goist hit two doubles while Jordan Stoddard had two hits. The Clippers (13-9) advance to the Kent State regional where they will play Monday’s winner of the Bristol-Mathews game.

Poland 7, Canfield 0

CANFIELD

Winning pitcher Jenna Modic (8-1) hit a two-run homer for the Bulldogs (19-2, 6-0 All-American Conference Red Tier). Erin Gabriel’s three hits included a homer while Adriana Sikora and Emily Chandler doubled. For the Cardinals (8-7, 4-2), Cara Cupler and Sarah Vrabel doubled.

Howland 14, Beaver Local 1

LISBON

Emily Price hit a three-run homer and Christina Brindley connected for a two-run shot and a double for the Tigers. Erika Nites tripled and doubled.

Howland 3, Niles 2

HOWLAND

Hayley Marchio had three hits while Olivia Nicholas had two hits and two RBIs for the Tigers (16-5, 5-1 AAC Red). Kasi Mikesubich and Alyse March each had two singles. For the Red Dragons, Lindsay Dodgson had four hits and Olivis Devorich three. Howland trails Poland by one game in the league race with a makeup game to be scheduled.

West Branch 5, Minerva 0

MINERVA

Lippencott doubled and Cheyenne Miller had two hits for the Warriors (16-7, 7-6 Northeastern Buckeye Conference). For the Lions (4-15, 2-12), Anne Marie Sales had three hits.

Western Reserve 11-7, McDonald 2-2

MCDONALD

Western Reserve earned the title of Inter-Tri County Tier II softball champions by sweeping their archrivals to close out the regular season for both teams. April Lude shut the door on McDonald in the first game, and the offense had 13 hits off of Leigh Gatta. Emily Magill had a double for the home team. Cassie Burchette, Marley Oles, Savannah Rube and Lude (2) each doubled for the winners. Gatta hit a home run for McDonald. In the second game, Magill went 2-for-3 for McDonald and teammate Melissa Hutzler was a perfect 3-for-3 with a double. Maggie Stubbs had a double for Western Reserve, and Oles was 2-for-2 on the night.

Independence 1, Lakeview 0

EUCLID

Jacob Solomon and Cole Nelson had doubles for Independence (18-5) in the district semifinal. For the Bulldogs (12-10), kevin Arnold doubled while Anthony Franco, Jake Pishotti and Darren Hamilton had hits. Josh Pryor struck out six batters and walked two.

Crestview 6-12, Lisbon 2-0

COLUMBIANA

Tom Marnejon and Matt May each had two hits for the Rebels. Brandon Brooks had two hits and scored two runs while Adam Coppock had two hits. For the Blue Devils, Drew Sweeney’s two hits included a double. In the second game, Brandon Jayne had three hits for the Rebels (15-6, 10-4 Inter Tri-County League Tier One) while Marnejon, Brian Orr and winning pitcher Logan Schaefer had two apiece.

Girard 16, Springfield 2

NEW MIDDLETOWN

Kyle Richey’s three hits included a double for the Indians (16-5). Winning pitcher A.J. Weibel (2-0) hit a homer and struck out four batters. Mat Pagano, Ryan Trimbur and Dan Graziano had doubles. For the Tigers (16-7), Ron Bovo and Joe Ohlin had doubles.
