Mr., Mrs. Rubino mark 50 years of marriage

Mr. and Mrs. Fernando Rubino of Poland celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary May 20 at an evening dinner party for invited guests at The Lake Club.

Hosting the celebration were the couple’s two daughters and their families, Jacqueline and Dominic Marchionda of Poland, and JoAnna and Dennis Schirarldi of Columbus. The Rubinos’ six grandchildren are Dominic, Anthony, Christopher and Nicolas Marchionda; and Michael and Matteo Schiraldi.

Mr. Rubino, a carpenter, retired in 1982 from Republic Steel/LTV in Youngstown, where he had been operator of by-products. In 1994 he formed Rubino Construction and built homes in Tuscany Estates in Poland and in other areas of the Valley.

Mrs. Rubino worked for Rubino Construction as a bookkeeper until she retired. She is a co-founder of the Paula and Anthony Rich Center for Autism at Youngstown State University.

Mr. Rubino and the former Rose Tirimacco were married May 20, 1961, at St. Dominic Church. They are members of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.

Mr. and Mrs. Rubino also celebrated the anniversary during a six-week trip to Italy in the summer of 2010.
