Maplewood, Warren JFK track athletes advance

INDEPENDENCE

Maplewood freshman Solomon Yoder made an impressive debut in Friday’s Division III district track and field meet.

Yoder finished third in the 110-meter high hurdles (16.74 seconds) and the 300 intermediate hurdles (41.56), and anchored the 4x400 relay that finished third in 3:32.01.

Maplewood finished in fifth place in the team standings with 56 points.

Also for the Rockets, junior Morgan Hake finished second in the 100 (11.31) and fourth in the 200 (23.08), and he led off the 4x400 relay.

Finally, sophomore Wyatt Hartman was third in the 1600 (4:31.82) and won the 800 (1:57.52), and was second on the 4x400 relay.

Warren JFK won the 4x200 relay in 1:30.90. Carl Broadbent, Pat Hull, Evan McBride and Rob Seger made up that relay.

Broadbent, McBride, Zack Watt and Carl Zallow finished second in the 4x100 relay in 44.47.

Hull also won the 400 (40.56) and Broadbent was second in the 300 hurdles (41.18).

In the girls side (Section A), JFK’s 4x100 relay of Natalie Ambrosy, Kelli Guarnieri, Kelsie Massacci and Erin McBride won in 51.38, and the same foursome placed fourth in the 4x200 relay (1:49.12).

Also, Massacci was third in the 200 (26.55), while Gina Sylvester was third in the 100 hurdles (17.33) and fourth in the 300 hurdles (51.01).

Freshman Jennilyn Krumpe of Badger won the 300 hurdles (47.84) and was fourth in the 200 (26.87).

In girls Section B, Jordan Moxley of Maplewood won the 200 (26.47) and was second in the high jump (5-2). Teammate Alanna Shamrock was second in the 1600 (5:31.43) and fourth in the 800 (2:29.34).

Erin Pavick of Maplewood won the 800 in 2:23.96.

Krystal Williams and Haley Garell of Maplewood were second and third, respectively, in the 3200, and Kalay Stamn was fourth in the high jump.
