Ladies champ set to defend
Four of the six defending champs are back for the 2011 Greatest, including ladies division champ Joan Ash.
While Joan was champ, we were thrilled for all the 2010 ladies as they worked hard to ensure our inaugural Greatest had a ladies division.
Their efforts have been rewarded in 2011 with a division that’s doubled in size already just two weeks into registrations.
Joan’s Greatest recognition reached beyond the Valley.
“It was such a positive event for the Valley — not only for the golfers, but for residents of the Valley and beyond. My nephew, who lives in Cincinnati, found out about my victory from the mother of one of his friends.”
Although she has not lived in Youngstown for years, she still keeps tabs on Y-town. And the Vindicator’s Greatest Golfer event caught her attention. She read about the tournament online and asked Christopher if he was related to Joan Ash the golfer. The Vindicator has a long reach.”
“I’m looking forward to playing in the tournament again this year and have encouraged my friends to enter. If you love golf, you will love this tournament. It’s good competition and good fun.”
Registrations at halfway point
The 2011 Greatest Golfer of the Valley tourney has room for 160 golfers. This weekend marks just three weeks into registration for the Aug. 26, 27 and 28 event, and half the field is full.

Who’s the Greatest junior?
The exciting part about Year 2 of the Greatest Golfer of the Valley is that we’re looking for the Greatest Junior Golfer of the Valley.
Tam O’Shanter, Tamer Win and Diamondback golf courses are set to host July qualifiers with Trumbull Country Club hosting the finals July 31.
