YSU arts festival seeks volunteers

The 13th annual Summer Festival of the Arts on July 9-10 on the Youngstown State University campus is seeking volunteers for artist registration, information booths, children’s hands-on art tent, technical assistance at performance sites and at the Festival of Nations international area. Various shifts are available for the two-day event. Each volunteer gets a festival T-shirt and reserved free parking. Volunteers can get service hour-verification forms if required by organizations such as the National Honor Society. Boardman grad in Disney show

Emily Callaway, 20, a 2008 Boardman High School graduate, has been cast in “Beauty and the Beast” at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Fla., for a one-year contract beginning May 29.

“Beauty” is a live show performed several times a day at Disney’s MGM theme park in Orlando.

Callaway, who was a dancer at Jamie’s Dance Force in Boardman and captain of the Spartan Sweethearts at Boardman High, is one of six female dancers in the show. The Kent State University student is the daughter of John and Kathi (Gemma) Callaway.
