Movers for Moms event aids women in shelters
Staff report
Youngstown
This Mother’s Day, as part of its Movers for Moms initiative, Two Men and a Truck franchise locations across the country collected more than 65,000 items to provide as gifts to women living in domestic-violence or homeless shelters.
In Youngstown, about 350 items were collected for donation to Beatitude House, a Youngstown shelter assisting the homeless.
Locally, Two Men and a Truck partnered with Stambaugh Academy and Cumulus Radio stations, including WYFM-FM, WHOT-FM, WSOM-FM and WBBW-FM, to promote the program and generate the necessary gifts.
The program continues to grow each year with additional Two Men and a Truck franchisees joining Movers for Moms.
In 2011, the number of items collected tripled the amount collected the previous year.
With the substantial success of this year’s program in helping bring smiles to the faces of thousands of women living in shelters, Movers for Moms is likely to expand in 2012.
Two Men and a Truck is the largest franchised moving company in North America. It includes more than 220 locations and more than 1,400 trucks on the road.
Each location is independently owned and operated and sells boxes and packing supplies.
