WARREN

The former president of the Girard Little Indians football organization was sentenced to two years’ probation and 30 days in the Warren Alternative Sentencing Program on Thursday for stealing $11,975 from the group.

Michael D. Simpson Jr., 34, of Crumlin Avenue, has repaid $6,400 so far and must repay the other $5,575 as well. He also must perform 100 hours of community service.

Simpson pleaded guilty in March to misdemeanor theft for making unauthorized withdrawals of the organization’s money for his personal use.

An audit indicated that Simpson made the withdrawals beginning in 2009 and ending March 24, 2010.
