POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Girard, Liberty and Hubbard:

GIRARD

May 14

Menacing: A man reported having been threatened with harm at a residence in the 200 block of East Prospect Street.

Harassment: An East Prospect Street woman said her former boyfriend made and sent a series of unwanted calls and text messages, then came to her home and refused to leave.

Menacing: A worker for a Girard animal clinic told police a pet owner posted harassing and defamatory comments online.

May 15

Criminal damaging: A key was used to damage a vehicle’s driver’s-side door in the 500 block of Church Hill Road.

Theft: An $800 set of golf clubs, a global-positioning-system device and a briefcase were stolen from a car in the 20 block of South Lorain Avenue, for a $1,300 loss.

May 17

Counterfeit: A fake $20 bill was passed at a Shell gas station, 420 S. State St.

Bad checks: The owner of a North State Street business reported receiving two checks totaling $869 that were returned for nonsufficient funds.

LIBERTY

May 13

Menacing: A Sampson Drive man said a worker for a business he had hired threatened him.

Felonious assault/domestic violence: Authorities responding to a fight near Belmont Avenue charged 33-year-old Hector A. Perez, 430 Kendis Circle, Youngstown, with felonious assault and carrying a concealed weapon, and Andres Miranda, 35, of 205 Griffith St., Youngstown, with domestic violence. A family member reported having been struck twice in the face, and a set of brass knuckles was found, police said.

Theft: James M. Sellars, 41, of 321 Glenwood Ave., Youngstown, was charged in the theft of $71 worth of items from Dollar General in the Liberty Plaza.

Assault: A man at a Euclid Boulevard residence told officers another man struck the accuser’s face.

Criminal damaging: A Mansell Drive woman reported damage to two articles of her teenage daughter’s clothing.

Arrest: Sinead Thomas, 20, of 2280 Kenwood Ave., Warren, was taken into custody after having been pulled over on Belmont Avenue. She was wanted on a warrant from that city.

May 14

Arrest: A traffic stop on Colonial Drive led to 51-year-old Carey Wright’s arrest. Wright, of 17 Lauderdale Ave., Youngstown, was charged with driving under the influence and under suspension and was wanted on two traffic warrants.

Drugs: Police at a Belmont Avenue motel charged 22-year-old Jeffona L. Thompson, 1211 Victor Ave., Youngstown, with possession of marijuana and heroin, and Sydney M. McCullough, 20, of 2 Trumbull Court, Youngstown, with possession of criminal tools. Thompson handed one bag each of suspected heroin and marijuana to officers, and a bag with suspected heroin residue was discovered in their car, a report showed.

Drugs: Officers pulled over a vehicle on Logan Gate Road, where Armin D. Moore, 32, of 100 Kendis Circle, Youngstown, faced a felony charge of possession of crack cocaine. A bag containing the drug fell from Moore’s pant leg, a report said.

Arrest: Joshua M. Marshall, 25, of 2730 Orchard Ave., Warren, was taken into custody during a traffic stop near Logan Gate Road on a probation-violation count, as well as a charge of having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle.

May 15

Theft/drugs: Police made four arrests while responding to the theft of $90 worth of merchandise from Dollar General, 4425 Logan Way. Facing theft and drug-related charges were Gerald R. Brown, 54 Sycamore Ave., Youngstown; Rosalie Mosley, 54, same address; and Amy D. Kaminsky, 2608 Bears Den Road, Youngstown. Philip B. Armour, 48, of 2252 Goleta Ave., Youngstown, was charged with driving under suspension.

Arrest: Police picked up 34-year-old Lee H. Carter of Columbus in the 3000 block of Green Acres Drive. Carter was wanted on a charge of failure to appear in court.

May 16

Assaults/domestic violence: Gabriele G. Sesta, 38, of 131 Belgrade Ave., Youngstown, faced two counts of assault and one of domestic violence after three people alleged Sesta was responsible for injuries they sustained during an assault while traveling in a vehicle. One of the three sought medical attention, a report said.

Menacing/damage: An employee with a Goldie Road store told police another woman threatened her, then used a car jack to break the accuser’s windshield.

Criminal damaging: Someone in the 1400 block of Townsend Avenue used a rock to smash a vehicle’s rear window.

Extortion: A Tuttle Drive couple told authorities a man asked them to give him several of their belongings in exchange for his dropping charges against one of the accusers in a separate case.

Attempted fraud: A Scott Lane woman told police her bank informed her that another woman had tried to cash a $600 check drawn on the accuser’s account.

Criminal damaging: Someone shot a BB and did $100 in damage to a window at Valvoline Instant Oil Change, 3159 Belmont Ave.

Theft: Video cameras at Walmart, 200 Goldie Road, showed two people conducting a transaction with another woman’s checkbook she had reported missing.

Theft: The rear license plate was removed from a vehicle in the 20 block of Fairlawn Avenue.

HUBBARD

May 13

Possible attempted fraud: A Waugh Drive man told police of receiving a letter claiming he had won a large sum of money. The man provided no personal information and lost no money, a report said.

Theft: Someone stole a metal drain-cover grate in the 900 block of West Liberty Street.

May 14

Possible fraud: A worker for Circle K, 211 W. Liberty St., reported a customer used another person’s credit card.

May 15

Harassment: A Grace Street woman reported getting threatening text messages.

Theft: The driver of a black vehicle left a Speedway station, 806 W. Liberty St., and failed to pay for gasoline.

Criminal damaging: Police responded to property damage at two addresses in the 10 block of McKinley Avenue.

May 16

Assault: An official with Hubbard High School, 350 Hall Ave., reported a fight.

Arrest: Police picked up 36-year-old David V. Koch at his residence, 625 Myron St., on a felony theft charge from Brookfield.
