WARREN

Ronald J. Pugh Jr., 26, of East Philadelphia Avenue, Youngstown, pleaded not guilty to murder Thursday morning in Warren Municipal Court in the Sunday morning shooting death of DeAngelo McCoy, 24.

Pugh is being held in the Trumbull County jail without eligibility to make bond. He returns to court at 10:15 a.m. Thursday for a preliminary hearing.

The U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, consisting mostly of local police officers and adult probation officers, arrested Pugh at 2:25 p.m. at a house on Roy Street on Youngstown’s West Side on Wednesday.

He was taken into custody without incident, said Detective Mike Currington of the Warren Police Department.

Pugh is charged with killing McCoy at 4:30 a.m. Sunday at the Hampshire House Apartments.

McCoy lived two streets over from the apartments, on Third Street Southwest.

Pugh and McCoy both have criminal records that included stints in the Ohio prison system.
