WARREN

A 38-year-old city woman faces charges of aggravated robbery and failure to comply with the orders of a police officer after a police chase and a report that she robbed a 55-year-old man.

Michelle Enderton, whose last known address is on Kenmore Avenue Southeast, is accused of robbing the man at gunpoint early Wednesday after he picked her up on West Market Street.

The episode began when the man walked into the Short Stop Truck Stop on West Market in Warren Township and cashed a personal check for $76.

He told the clerk he was being robbed and to call the police. He said the robbers were in his vehicle in the parking lot. He then returned to the car, which was being driven by a male.

Warren Township police notified Warren police, who checked the man’s residence and spotted his car at West Market Street and Tod Avenue Southwest at 12:44 a.m.

When the officer attempted to stop the vehicle on Tod Avenue, the vehicle sped up, heading south. The officer chased at speeds up to 50 miles per hour until Salt Springs Road, when the officer called off the pursuit.

The Lordstown Police Department continued the chase, which ended in Ellsworth Township after the vehicle ran out of gas.

Warren police were notified and arrived at the scene. Officers, including a Warren police dog, located Enderton in a wooded area where she had injured her ankle and took her into custody.

Because of Enderton’s injury, she was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center and will be taken into police custody when she is released from the hospital.

Enderton has had 22 criminal cases in Warren Municipal Court dating back to 1992.
