Snowden gets 4 years in shooting of 7-year-old

YOUNGSTOWN

A 20-year-old Cedar Lane man will be locked up for four years for his role in the drive-by shooting of a 7-year-old girl last year.

Samson Snowden drew the sentence Wednesday from Judge James C. Evans of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court.

Snowden initially was charged with four counts of felonious assault but in a plea deal, the prosecution dropped three of them and reduced the fourth one to attempted felonious assault and reduced the firearm specification from three years to one year.

Snowden apologized to the victim’s family for his crime.

The girl was shot in both legs while she sat in the back seat of a relative’s car at a convenience store on Logan Avenue on the North Side in June 2010.
