Pa. man sentenced
CLEVELAND
A 36-year-old New Castle, Pa., man was sentenced Wednesday to 10 years in federal prison after he pleaded guilty to conspiracy and possession with intent to distribute cocaine.
Christopher David Smith possessed about 2.2 pounds of the drug Dec. 15 with intent to sell it in the Youngstown area, the U.S. attorney said. “This defendant traveled to Youngstown for the purpose of selling cocaine,” said Steven M. Dettelbach, the U.S. attorney. “His goal was to put poison on the street for profit,” Dettelbach added. The case was investigated by the Youngstown office of the U. S. Drug Enforcement Agency.
Damage to school
Boardman
Township police are investigating damage to five windows and a glass door at West Boulevard Elementary.
Police were called to 6125 West Blvd. at about 7:40 p.m. Sunday after a woman walking her dog reported several males throwing bricks through windows at the school. The woman told officers she was walking behind the building when she heard a bang and saw the two suspects — one was thin and white, with dark blonde hair and wearing a long-sleeved red shirt. The other was a thin, black male with short curly hair and wearing a yellow sweat shirt, the report said.
She said the suspects saw her and began running in her direction but turned around and ran toward the front of the school.
Police said the suspects used landscaping bricks from the back of the building to smash five windows and a glass door.
