WARREN

After a six-month national search, the Warren-based Raymond John Wean Foundation named Jeffrey M. Glebocki as its new president.

Glebocki, 55, a northeast Ohio native who has lived in Arizona since 2004, is familiar with the opportunities and challenges of the Mahoning Valley because earlier in his career he worked in Cleveland and Lorain County, said Gordon Wean, chairman of the board of The Raymond John Wean Foundation.

Glebocki will take over the position in July. Wean said more than 100 people applied for the job.

The foundation’s advertisement seeking candidates said the position pays an “attractive six-figure base compensation ... commensurate with other private foundation president roles of similar size, scope and scale.

It also includes a generous benefits plan including health, retirement, paid vacation and professional development budget.”

The compensation is similar to that of his predecessor, Joel Ratner, who left the Wean Foundation for a position with a Cleveland citywide neighborhood development organization, Wean said.

The compensation was not disclosed.

Under Ratner’s nearly four-year term as president, the Wean Foundation was transformed from a largely family-focused foundation to a community asset committed to helping solve community challenges and capitalizing upon opportunities in trying to improve the quality of life in the Mahoning Valley, Wean said.

Glebocki, founder and principal of Strategy + Action Consulting, LLC based in Tucson, Ariz., has worked as a consultant to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Center on Education Policy, Helios Education Foundation, the Ramsey Executive Education Program at Arizona State University, the Stranahan Foundation, and the Treu-Mart Fellowship Program at Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland.

He is on the faculty of the Association of Small Foundations, headquartered in Washington, D.C., and has co-authored articles published by the National Center for Family Philanthropy, Grantmakers for Education and other organizations.
