Airport authority issues advisory

PITTSBURGH

The Allegheny County Airport Authority on Wednesday issued a travel advisory for Pittsburgh International Airport because of increased traffic during the upcoming summer travel season.

The authority is reminding travelers to arrive at Pittsburgh International at least 90 minutes to two hours before their flight’s scheduled departure time.

Travelers also are urged to print boarding passes from home or use the boarding- pass kiosks inside the airport if they are not checking luggage.

Passengers also are asked to remember the 3-1-1 rule to expedite the screening process. No more than 3 ounces of liquid or gel in a container, all containers must be packed in a clear 1-quart, zip-top bag and only one bag per passenger.

FirstEnergy will build new facility

AKRON

FIrstEnergy announced plans Wednesday to locate a power-plant maintenance team in Rostraver Township, Pa., about a half-hour south of Pittsburgh.

The facility, to be completed sometime after June, will support the operation of the company’s electric- generating plants and house 39 maintenance and outage- support employees.

Microprocessor saves Cruze gas

LORDSTOWN

General Motors Co. said the Chevrolet Cruze’s microprocessor in its fuel system improves fuel economy by 2 percent.

The microprocessor manages the fuel as it travels from fuel tank to engine and allows the system to make more-efficient decisions.

GM hiring temps

LORDSTOWN

UAW Local 1112 will hire about 70 laid-off auto workers from other General Motors Co. locations to work at the Lordstown facility on a temporary basis.
