Motorcycle fatality

SOUTHINGTON

A Champion woman seriously injured when she was ejected from a motorcycle in Champion on May 11 died Tuesday morning. Jacqueline Nalbach, 49, of Center Street West, was a passenger on a motorcycle driven by Carl McGovney, 47, of Wheelock Drive, Howland.

McGovney and Nalbach were westbound on state Route 305 near Louise Avenue when a car driven by Forrest Sharp, 19, of Greenfield Oval in Champion turned east onto Route 305 from a stop sign on Louise and pulled into the path of the motorcycle.

McGovney and Nalbach were not wearing helmets.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol, which investigated the accident, said it will submit the case to the Trumbull County Prosecutor’s office.

A.J. Ondrey, a Youngstown State University student and 2008 graduate of South Range High School, is a finalist in the ESPN Sportscenter’s Your Highlight Contest for his video “Off the Head Game Winner.”

The video captures the last second of a game between South Range High School and Springfield High School during Ondrey’s senior year, when he threw the ball to a teammate and it bounced off a Springfield player’s head and into the hoop to win the game. Today is the last day to vote for Ondrey’s video at Youtube.com/espn.

Burglary suspects

CANFIELD

The two men who led police on a multi-jurisdiction chase Monday will be arraigned on burglary charges at 5 p.m. today in Mahoning County Area Court. Aaron Michael Freet, 29, of Southern Boulevard, Boardman and David Allan Boggs, 27, Annabell Street, McDonald, were charged with burglary after reportedly breaking into an East South Range Road home in Beaver Township. Boggs also faces a misdemeanor charge of failure to comply with a police order.
