COLUMBIANA

A 36-year-old Columbiana man was in Columbiana Municipal Court on Tuesday, accused of fleeing from law enforcement, and is being held on $5,000 bond.

Sheldon Lee Robinson was arrested around 8:30 p.m. Monday after U.S. Marshals chased him for two hours through a wooded area of East Palestine. For that incident, Robinson is charged with resisting arrest, obstructing official business and failure to appear, Columbiana jail officials said.

The marshals were pursuing Robinson on a warrant from Boardman police, accusing him of failure to comply with an order of a police officer, resisting arrest and obstructing official business.

Officers said that on May 5, Robinson circled Market Street, U.S. Route 224 and Sheldon Avenue and eventually fled from police on foot through backyards on Southern Boulevard.

The truck that Robinson was driving was taken to the Boardman police station for investigation after officers found a large amount of scrap metal in the truck bed, bolt cutters, pry bars and an open malt-liquor container in a cup holder, police said.

Robinson also had an active warrant from Beaver police for a Dec. 27 drive-off theft of gas and fleeing police.
