Two Mahoning Valley men face burglary charges after breaking into an East South Range Road home and leading police on a chase through several jurisdictions.

Aaron Michael Freet, 29, of Southern Boulevard, Boardman, and David Allan Boggs, 27, Annabell Street, McDonald, are each charged with burglary and in the Mahoning County jail.

Beaver Township Police Chief Carl Frost said police responded Monday morning to an alarm at the home. When they arrived, a car sped from the home with police following.

It traveled into Springfield Township where police lost sight of it and issued an alert to other police agencies. Poland Township police spotted the car in Poland Village, Frost said.

Poland Township Patrolman T.J. Johnson spotted a car matching the description traveling along state Route 170. When the officer maneuvered behind the car, it sped up with police following.

Poland Township Sgt. Gary Abeid estimated that speeds reached about 60 mph. It traveled through a small portion of Struthers and into Youngstown.

“They traveled all the way down [state Route] 170 to Loveland to Powers Way and as they were heading down Powers Way down the hill, when they reached the bottom, they lost control, went across Poland Avenue and over an embankment, striking a dirt mound,” Abeid said.

The driver and passenger bailed out of the car, fleeing down the railroad tracks west, toward Center Street.

Johnson arrested the passenger, Freet, and a Youngstown officer with a police dog arrested the driver, Boggs, in a weeded area along the railroad, west of Center, the sergeant said.

Several departments were involved in the pursuit. No one was injured.
