Butler to mark Museum Day


YOUNGSTOWN

The Butler Institute of American Art, 524 Wick Ave., will celebrate International Museum Day on Wednesday with extended hours until 6 p.m. and a special tour of new exhibitions at 4:15 p.m. led by Louis Zona, director and chief curator. Admission is free.

The event, sponsored by the Association of Art Museum Directors, focuses attention on the roles that art museums play in their communities, while showcasing their collections.

Temporary exhibitions on display include the graphic work of Cleveland artist Phyllis Seltzer; an exhibition of nautical-themed paintings from the Butler collection; art by national talent Gregory Strachov; watercolors by Midwest painter Ricahard Lazzaro; and an exhibit of technology-based sculpture from the Butler’s holdings.
