Body of missing fisherman found
Staff report
ELLWOOD CITY, Pa.
The body of a fisherman missing since he fell into the Slippery Rock Creek on April 30 has been found.
John Latulippe, 38, of Shaler Township, Pa., was fishing in McConnells Mill State Park that morning when he fell into the creek. Despite several search efforts, he was not found.
Connie MacDonald, Ellwood City fire chief, said a person who lives in the borough of Ellport, across the Connoquennessing Creek from Ellwood City, spotted Latulippe’s remains around 12:30 p.m. Friday in the creek, about 11 miles away from where he fell in. The Slippery Rock flows into the Connoquennessing.
MacDonald said the body was over a hillside beneath Lando’s restaurant on Pa. Route 65.
He said rescuers had to navigate the steep hillside, and stormy weather hindered them. The Beaver Falls Fire Department’s dive team recovered the body, and other fire departments assisted in bringing it up the hill, he said.
He said the body was recovered by 3:30 p.m.
