Police charged Dennis Favors, 54, of the 400 block of West Delason with robbery, criminal damaging and endangering after an incident about 4 a.m. Sunday.

At a house in the 300 block of West Delason, Favors banged on the door and threw the porch furniture around, police said. The 50-year-old female resident and mother of seven came out of the house with a hammer. Favors reportedly punched her three times on the right side of the face and got the hammer away from her and hit her with it on her face.

The victim refused treatment. Favors was taken to the Mahoning County jail.
