Mom: School punishes child alleging sex act on bus

DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — A woman says an Ohio charter school is unfairly punishing her daughter for not immediately reporting that she allegedly saw two classmates having sex on a school bus and for changing her bus seat during the trip.

Saundra Roundtree told The Associated Press today that her 14-year-old daughter changed seats with a boy who wanted to sit beside a girl on a Dayton View Academy school trip. Roundtree says her daughter told her at home afterward that she later saw the two classmates having sex but was afraid to say anything.

Roundtree notified school officials and says they told her Friday that her daughter cannot attend the eighth-grade prom or picnic.

The school did not immediately return calls today.

Dayton’s WHIO-TV reports the two other students were suspended.
