Man claims online audio posting prompted charges
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — A man claims a recording he posted online of an encounter with police over the handgun he was legally carrying prompted authorities in Philadelphia to charge him with disorderly conduct.
Mark Fiorino said he was charged last month after posting a lengthy recording of the February incident.
Fiorino was stopped while carrying a holstered firearm on his waist. On the recording, an officer swears at Fiorino and repeatedly orders him to get on his knees while Fiorino says he’s willing to stand and provide his license to carry. He was eventually released without charges.
Fiorino tells the paper for today’s editions he’ll sue the city after his criminal case is resolved.
A police spokesman says Fiorino provoked a confrontation so he could file a lawsuit.
