Two groups have formed in an effort to get the $55.5 billion two-year state budget proposed by Ohio Gov. John Kasich approved by the legislature.

The Columbus Dispatch reported Sunday that One Ohio United and Ohio’s Campaign For Jobs are pushing to get the budget in place, with One Ohio United creating a television ad. The budget plan has passed the House with modifications and is now before the Senate

Kasich campaign fundraiser Mal Mixon filed incorporation papers for One Ohio United in December. He is chairman of InvaCare Corp., where the Republican governor once sat on the board of directors. Ohio’s Campaign For Jobs has the support of the Ohio Chamber of Commerce.

University of Akron political scientist John Green tells The Dispatch such efforts to persuade people on policy are being seen more and more between elections.
