Warren JFK’s Michael Fredericka won two matches Saturday to capture his third straight Division II sectional tennis title. Fredericka defeated Mooney’s Michael Rotar, 6-0, 6-1, in the semifinals then defeated Salem’s Mitch Maroscher in the final, 6-0, 6-2. Maroscher earned the second seed, while JFK’s Tyler Cole was third and Rotar earned the fourth and final qualifying spot for next week’s district tournament, which begins Wednesday in Canton. In doubles action, Poland’s Ken Duncan and Garrett Gardner defeated Lakeview’s Zach McDivitt and Aaron Paczak, 6-3, 6-2, to capture the sectional crown. Salem’s Taylor Frederickson and Jay Linam defeated JFK’s James Rossi and John Nader to earn the No. 3 seed.

Winning pitcher Lee Lovejoy’s three hits included a triple and double in the Division II sectional final. Lovejoy (2-2) tossed a two-hitter at Kent State University and he drove in two runs. Ray Pittman homered and drove in two runs with his two hits while Brandon Holt had three hits for Ravenna (13-5), which will play the winner of Monday’s Cardinal Mooney-Struthers game on Wednesday in a district semifinal at Cene Park. For the Pirates (6-12), Ben Metzgar doubled.
