Local UAW to host tornado-relief event

UAW Local 1112 will host a tornado disaster relief Monday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the union hall, 11471 Reuther Drive SW.
Requested items include baby items, toiletries, cleaning supplies, paper items, bottled water, pet food, blankets, flashlights, batteries, tarps and tents and will go to Christmas Charities Year Round in Huntsville, Ala.

Young professionals schedule meeting
YOUNGSTOWN
The Mahoning Valley Young Professionals will host its third annual Mingling in Mill Creek from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the D.D. and Velma Davis Center at Mill Creek Metroparks, 123 McKinley Ave.
Participants can meet and network with other young professionals from Northeast Ohio.
Cost is $20 at the door or $17 in advance. Students who show their college identification can attend for $10. Reservations can be made by visiting the MVYP website, www.mvp2030club.org.
Advertising and PR networking event
AKRON
The Akron Chapter of The American Advertising Federation and the Akron Area Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America will host a social networking event from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Brubaker’s Pub, 357 S. Main St.
Area communications professionals and students are welcome to attend.

Economic-award event is June 1
NEW CASTLE, PA.
The Lawrence County Economic Development Corporation will host its 2011 Entrepreneur Luncheon from noon to 1:30 p.m. June 1 at New Castle Country Club, 511 Country Club Drive.
The event will honor the 2011 Entrepreneur Contest Winners: Speranza Healthcare, LLC, which won first-place honors, and Slim Perfect, Inc., which won second-place honors.

Soybean contest
WORTHINGTON
The Ohio Soybean Association is hosting the state’s second annual Soybean Yield and Quality Contest for the 2011 growing season. There will be an overall winner and category prize winners, including winners of a quality contest.
The entrance fee is $100 and all entry forms must be postmarked by Aug. 31. More information, including the entry form, is available at www.soyohio.org/yieldcontest.
