Grant will buy equipment for youth crisis center

YOUNGSTOWN

The Young Philanthropist Fund, a component of the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley, has awarded a $2,000 grant to Daybreak, a youth crisis shelter operated by Family Service Agency.

The money will be used to purchase exercise equipment for the shelter residents and provide them with nutrition and exercise education.

The Young Philanthropist Fund’s goal is to introduce the Valley’s younger generation to the role of philanthropy and the efforts of the nonprofit organizations in the community.

Daybreak is a community-based, 10-bed facility on Homestead Street that provides emergency shelter and crisis counseling services to abused, neglected, runaway, and otherwise homeless youth from age 11 to 18.
