Donation for Daybreak
YOUNGSTOWN
The Young Philanthropist Fund, a component of the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley, has awarded a $2,000 grant to Daybreak, a youth-crisis shelter operated by Family Service Agency.
The money will be used to purchase exercise equipment for the shelter residents and provide them with nutrition and exercise education.
The Young Philanthropist Fund’s goal is to introduce the Valley’s younger generation to the role of philanthropy and the efforts of nonprofit organizations in the community.
Daybreak is a community-based, 10-bed facility on Homestead Street that provides emergency shelter and crisis-counseling services to abused, neglected, runaway and otherwise homeless youth age 11 to 18.

The money is raised at Dr. Naffah’s summer fundraising event, “An Evening Under the Stars,” at the Cadobaz (Culture, Arts and Dining of Bazetta), near his home. Proceeds are donated to support prescription-assistance programs for elderly patients in Trumbull County.
