Virtual school offers online summer courses for grades 6-12

Virtual Community School of Ohio offers online summer-school courses for grades six through 12.

VCS Ohio’s flexible curriculum lets students set their own schedule and work at their own pace, leaving time for summer recreational activities, travel or a summer job. Two summer sessions are available. Courses are open to students from all school districts.

High-school course offerings include: algebra I & II, business math, computer skills, Earth Science, Earn and Learn, Geometry, Government, Health, Intro to Algebra, Language Arts I-IV, Life science, physical education, physical science, Spanish I, U.S. history and world history.

Middle-school course offerings include: Reading and Writing Made Fun, Learning About Creative Writing Through Comics, Polish Up on Reading for the OAA, The Joys of Reading and Writing, Digital Storytelling, Expanding Your Number Sense, When Will I Use This Math? Building Bridges, Math Crash Course: What You Need to Know, Science and Technology in Aviation, Know Where You Live: Ohio History and Study of Native American History. All courses are taught by certified teachers.

The first session is June 13 through July 8; the second session is July 11 through Aug. 5. Middle-school courses are available during the first session only. Students should register online by June 10 for the first session and by July 8 for the second session.
