Sun finally shines on flag football
The Youngstown Youth Flag Football Association used the first sunny day of the 2011 spring season to field a full day of exciting play from all of the teams last Sunday at Boardman High School.
In 5-6 division action, the Green Bay Packers scored late in the game to stay undefeated by knocking off the Broncos. The Miami Dolphins also stayed unbeaten as they gave the Panthers their first loss of the season.
In the 7-8 division, the Buffalo Bills continued their winning streak with a victory over the Seattle Seahawks. The New Orleans Saints were also dealt their first loss of the season, falling to the New England Patriots.
The Panthers, Packers and Ravens remain undefeated in a highly-competitive 9-11 division with impressive victories over the Dolphins, Seahawks and Jets, respectively.
The New England Patriots will be the team to beat in the 12-14 division after a decisive win over the Arizona Cardinals.
Off the field, the Youngstown Youth Flag Football Association spring 2011 fundraiser raised more $3,000 for the Elliott Giles Youngstown State University scholarship fund.
