Mobile bus exhibit based on POWs

Warren-Trumbull County Public Library will host “Held on the Homefront: German POWs in the United States, 1943-46,” a mobile bus exhibit, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 21 at the library parking lot, 444 Mahoning Ave. NW.

The free exhibit focuses on the 425,000 German, Italian and Japanese POWs imprisoned in more than 660 base and branch camps throughout the U.S. and Alaska. It tells the story of the roughly 372,000 German POWS in the Army-operated camps in the U.S., who were sent out to harvest or process crops, build roads and waterways and to do other practical wartime tasks.

Benefit dinner

WARREN

A spaghetti dinner will be served from noon to 5 p.m. May 21 at Ali Babba Grotto, 760 Perkins Jones Road NE, Warren, to help pay the medical expenses of Dale Davis. Meals are $7 for adults, $3 for those 5 to 11, and free for children under 4. There will be a basket auction, a 50-50 drawing and a bake sale.

Alzheimer Network Family Support Group meetings are scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday at Girard Free Library, 105 E. State St., Girard; at 6 p.m. Thursday at Sunrise Assisted Living of Poland, 335 W. McKinley Way, Poland; and at 10 a.m. Friday at Canfield Christian Church, 123 S. Broad St., Canfield.

Free pampering day

LIBERTY

The first 60 women, 19 years of age or older, who register by calling 330-539-0003 will be treated to a free pampering day from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 4 at Liberty Assembly, 6779 Belmont Ave. The day will feature pedicures, manicures, flip-flops, prizes, entertainment and lunch.
