Boys track team wins regular season finale
The Boardman boys track team concluded the regular season with an 81-56 victory over the GlenOak Golden Eagles.
The Spartans opened the meet with a victory by seniors Eddie Adu-Poku and Corey Zell and freshmen Alan Burns and Mark Hadley in the 4X800 meter relay with a time of 8:37.
The next event, the 110 hurdles, senior Clayvon Finch placed first in a time of 15.1. Junior Allen Starkey was second in a time of 16.2 and junior Michael Moxley was third in a time of 16.9.
In the 100 meters, Spartan sophomore Nathan Jones took first in 11.2.
In the 1600, Adu-Poku placed second in a time of 4:33, followed by Hadley in third at 4:40.
The Spartans won the 4X100 meter relay with the team of freshmen Brian Bodrick and Isaiah Lyle, junior Darel Green and Finch.
Senior Trae Robinson finished first in the 400 with a time of 53.1 and freshman Ivan Adu-Poku was second in 54.1.
In the 300-meter hurdles, Finch finished first in 43.1, with Moxley in second with a time of 43.6.
In the 200, Jones took first in 23.4, while in the 3200 freshman Justin Maroni finished third with a time of 10:43.
Also, the Spartans 4X400 meter relay team of Robinson, Moxley, Ivan Adu-Poku and Jones won the event in a time of 3:34.
In the field events, junior John Kuczek won the shot put with a throw of 44-7. Senior Luis Salomon was second with a heave of 43-4, while junior Bill McMullen was third with a throw of 40-10.
Junior Brian Linsley placed first in the discus with a heave of 138-6 and junior Nick Lamb was second with a throw of 124-0.
In the high jump, senior Leandre Jackson finished second with a leap of 6-4 and Starkey was second at 5-8. In the long jump, Starkey took first with a leap of 20-10.
