Boardman girls win 4X400 to top GlenOak


The Boardman girls track team’s final Federal League dual meet of the season May 4 came down to the final event – the 4X400 relay. The team of Christina Claybrook, Carissa Plourde, Nicole Vlad and Tori Moore delivered by running a season-best time of 4:17.60 to score five team points and earn the team’s 69-68 victory.

The meet began with Boardman winning the 4X800 relay. The quartet of freshman Breanna Gatte, senior Katie Heney, sophomore Tony Triglia and Moore posted a time a season-best time of 10:19.89. Each runner had a personal best split.

Vlad won the 100 hurdles in 16.36 and Moore was second with a season best time of 5:27.76 in the 1600. Daisy Robinson took first in the discus (105-7) and Giovanna Silvestri placed second with a toss of 103-6.

Plourde won the 400 in 65.35 and sophomore teammate Claybrook was second in 66.52. Plourde placed second in the long jump with a leap of 14-6, while Vlad won the 300 hurdles (48.42) and Moore won the 800 (2:29.18.) Robinson took first in the shot put, throwing a career-best of 35-0.

Freshman Nikki Hillard was second in the 200 with a time of 27.41, junior Jenny Bresnahan took second in the pole vault and.

senior Katie Heney ran a season-best time of 11:55.68 to win the 3200.
