Special Olympics for 6 counties May 21

GIRARD

A Special Olympics is planned at 10 a.m. May 21 in Arrowhead Stadium with more than 275 students from eight schools in six surrounding counties participating.

The Girard City School District, the Girard-Liberty Rotary Club and Fairhaven School, along with assistance of many area companies and businesses, have worked in partnership on the event.

More than 125 volunteers

from Girard city schools and community-service groups and businesses will serve as volunteers that day.

From a backyard summer camp for people with intellectual disabilities to a global movement, Special Olympics has been changing lives and attitudes for more than 40 years.
