Mail carrier food drive is Saturday

YOUNGSTOWN

The 19th annual National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) Stamp Out Hunger National Food Drive is Saturday.

Members of the Youngstown Post Office’s NALC Local 385 and the Association of Rural Letter Carriers are asking people to put nonperishable food items at their mailboxes before 9 a.m. Saturday to be picked up by their letter carriers.

The food will be distributed

to area food banks and food-

distribution organizations, said Diana Kady, campaign coordinator for Youngstown and Warren and surrounding areas.

Kady said the local drive has collected 2,670,516 pounds of food during the last 18 years, and, nationally, more than 1 billion pounds was collected in 2010.

Co-sponsors are the Postal Service, Campbell Soup, Valpac, United Way, AFL-CIO, Feeding America and Uncle Bob’s Self-Storage.
