Vexfest sets date, reveals headliner

Vexfest, the annual, free music-and-arts festival in downtown Youngstown, will be Aug. 14.

National recording artist Boombox will be the headliner, and Via Sahara, a once-popular local rock band that broke up a couple of years ago, will reunite to perform at the festival.

Vexfest takes place on West Federal Street — which will be blocked to traffic — between Phelps Street and Wick Avenue. The daylong event — now in its eighth year — will include more than 50 bands on multiple stages, according to a news release from festival organizers.
