Hadley, Pa., man killed

MERCER, Pa.

A man was killed in a one-car accident in Salem Township early Wednesday.

State police said the victim is James Earl Sires Jr., 25, of Vaughn Road in Hadley, Pa. He died when a car driven by Ben Lyle Loutzenhiser, 24, of Main Street in Conneaut Lake, Pa., went out of control and left Mitchellville Road. Sires was partly ejected and hit a tree, police said.

Police said Loutzenhiser drove home and called an ambulance after he couldn’t awaken Sires. Loutzenhiser is charged with homicide by vehicle, homicide by vehicle while under the influence, accidents involving death or personal injury, driving under the influence of alcohol, involuntary manslaughter and careless driving.

Teenager shot in leg

YOUNGSTOWN

A 17-year-old boy was shot in the leg at 7:50 p.m. Wednesday as he was walking in the 300 block of Philadelphia Avenue.

He told police he felt pain in his leg but did not see who shot him.
