Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley is having its first “Champions for our Valley’s Children” celebration dinner at 6 p.m. Tuesday at The Lake Club, 1140 Paulin Road in Poland. A social hour begins at 5:30 p.m. The dinner will be followed by the program. The cost is $50 per person. For reservations, call 330-746-9122.
The “Champions for our Valley’s Children” event will highlight Akron Children’s progress in the Mahoning Valley and will recognize those who have helped to make it possible, including donors, volunteers, staff and community partners. Special recognition will be given to the Beeghly family for its outstanding support and generosity, said JoAnn Stock, Akron Children’s director of development.
Autism workshop

Parent Power and the Family and Children First Councils of Mahoning and Trumbull Counties are offering a workshop on “A Conversation about the Autism Spectrum” from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. May 19 at the Jewish Community Center, 505 Gypsy Lane.
Present at the workshop will be the Barron family with a personal story of autism; Dr. John Duby, director of education at the Neuro Developmental Science Center of Akron Children’s Hospital; and a panel of service providers.

Tractor show

The Mahoning County Board of Developmental Disabilities (MCBDD) and the Antique Tractor Club of Trumbull County are presenting an Antique Tractor Show at Bev MASCO, 825 Bev Road, on Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A tractor parade will follow the show. In the event of rain, the show will take place at the same time in the same location May 20. Red Cross courses
The American Red Cross of the Mahoning Valley is offering several courses. Early paid registration is required. Register online at www.mahoningvalley.redcross.org or call 330-726-6063 or 330-392-2551. Manuals can be picked up at either location before class. The classes include:
CPR/AED for Health Care Professionals, Tuesday and Wednesday, 5:30 to 10 p.m., Boardman, 8381 Market St., in the Adamas Plaza. Both sessions are required for certification. The cost is $70.
Safety Training, Saturday, 8381 Market St., Boardman. The cost is $55. Individuals interested in only CPR may register for $40. CPR is 8:30 a.m. to noon.
Adult CPR, Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., 661 Mahoning Ave., Warren. The cost is $40. Trumbull County seniors age 60 and over should call for special pricing.
Rabies clinic
LAKE MILTON
The Mahoning County District Board of Health is offering a rabies vaccination clinic for dogs, cats and ferrets on Saturday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Lake Milton Fire Department, 15980 Milton Ave. No appointment is necessary. The cost is $4. Pet owners must have their pets on a leash, in a cage, or carried in a pillowcase. The clinic is sponsored by the health district in partnership with Dr. Valerie Thorn of Doctors Park Veterinary Clinic in Canfield.
