Pa. mother who hid 5 kids enters no-contest plea
YORK, Pa. (AP) — A Pennsylvania woman says she hid her five children from the world because she ran away at 16 and wanted to stay in hiding.
The York Dispatch reports 34-year-old Louann Bowers admitted her conduct was wrong when she entered a no-contest plea today to five counts of child endangerment.
Prosecutors say Bowers and the children were living in squalor in a dilapidated York home, but she denies they lived there.
The paper says Bowers admitted her children didn’t get medical or dental care, didn’t attend school and didn’t have birth certificates.
Her sentencing is scheduled for June 22.
The children’s father, Sinhue Johnson, is awaiting trial on the same charges.
