Flash flooding strands Ohio residents, motorists
SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (AP) — Flash flooding in parts of Ohio has trapped dozens of people in homes and at a campground and prompted several boat rescues.
Some streets in western Ohio’s Clark County were flooded early today after the area received 4 inches of rain or more overnight.
A Harmony Township Fire Department dispatcher says about 16 to 20 people were rescued from campers at Beaver Valley Resort. Officials say the water reached 3 or 4 feet high and overran the banks of Buck Creek but was rapidly receding today.
Operations manager James Allen of the Springfield Township Fire Department says the department and the Clark County Water Craft Division used boats to get residents out of several homes near Springfield. He says no injuries were reported.
