1 treated after knife fight

NEW CASTLE, Pa.

Shenango Township Police are investigating a fight that sent one man to the hospital.

Police said they went to a house on Savannah Gardner Road on Monday for a reported stabbing.

They said James E.D. Doherty, 29, 530 Shenango Stop Road, and Jeremy A. Smith Sr., 32, 409 ½ E. Reynolds Ave., got into a fight in which a knife and a tire iron were wielded.

Doherty was struck numerous times with the tire iron, while Smith suffered four superficial stab wounds to HIS left chest, right chest, left arm and back.

Smith was transported to Jameson Hospital for treatment.

Charges are pending.
