Franklin won all Warren wards except 3rd Ward

Doug Franklin, who won last week’s Democratic primary election and is likely to become Warren’s next mayor, won six of seven wards in the city — all but the 3rd Ward, where his election opponent, Jim Graham, lives.

Overall, Franklin won 57 percent of the vote compared to Graham’s 43 percent in incomplete and unofficial results.

Franklin’s largest margin of victory came in the 6th Ward, which is in the southwest part of the city — usually considered the most blighted part of the city. Franklin drew 84.5 percent of the vote.

His next highest vote total came from the 4th Ward, where Franklin lives. The ward is in the downtown area and takes in a portion of the southeast part of the city south of Trumbull Memorial Hospital.

Franklin received 64.6 percent of the vote there to Graham’s 35.4 percent.

Franklin’s third-highest vote total came in the 7th Ward in the northwest part of the city. He received 57 percent of the vote there.

His fourth highest vote total came in the 2nd Ward between Elm Road and Mahoning Avenue on the north side of town. Franklin got 56.2 percent of the vote compared to Graham’s 43.8 percent.

Franklin’s fifth highest vote total came in the 1st Ward, which is in the far northwest part of the city. He got 55.5 percent of the vote there.

His sixth highest total came in the 5th Ward, not far from Franklin’s home. The 5th Ward is throughout the Southeast part of Warren, just east and south of Franklin’s home on Homewood Avenue Southeast.

Graham lives on Hollywood Street Northeast, near the Lincoln K-8 building on Atlantic Street. The 3rd Ward is considered the most affluent part of the city.
