April was second wettest on record


Last month was the second wettest April in the Mahoning Valley’s weather history.

The area received 6.87 inches of rain in April. The wettest April was in 1998 with 7.29 inches.

As of this afternoon, 1.55 inches of rain fell on the area this month. That’s 0.56 of an inch above normal.

But the Valley has a long way to go before it cracks the top 10 wettest months of May.

At No. 10 is 5.84 inches in 1984. The wettest May was 1946 with 9.87 inches of rain.

The National Weather Service’s forecast doesn’t call for the chance of rain until Thursday night. There’s a chance of rain from Thursday night to Monday, according to the forecast.
