SANDUSKY

Cedar Point will open for its 142nd season Saturday.

The amusement park with 74 rides, including 17 roller coasters, and resort will be open daily through Sept. 5.

In late May, the park will open WindSeeker, a 301-foot-tall swing ride located near the Cedar Point Beach. Riders in two- passenger cars will be able to view the park, Lake Erie and Cedar Point Beach.

Another new feature of the park is Pink’s, a restaurant that specializes in gourmet hot dogs, chili dogs and onion rings. It is the first Pink’s franchise east of Las Vegas, according to a news release.

“We are very excited to officially kick off summer in the Midwest. It has been a long, cold winter and people are ready to have some fun. Roller coasters, hot dogs and Snoopy are the perfect solution,” said John Hildebrandt, Cedar Point’s vice president and general manager.

Cedar Point also will have live entertainment throughout the season. “Tropical Heat, Island Beat” in the Red Garter Saloon will play the hits of Jimmy Buffett and the Miami Sound Machine, while “Charlie Brown’s Funtime Frolics” will be performed in Camp Snoopy. Four other shows will open later in the summer.

On Sunday, the park will offer an all-year-can-eat picnic featuring bratwurst, fried chicken and potato salad, among other items, in the Coral Courtyard from 4 to 6:30 p.m. An adult combo ticket, which includes park admission and the picnic, costs $50.90. Tickets are available online or at the park admission gates.

Regular admission for anyone age 3 to 61 who is at least 4 feet tall is $46.99. Admission for anyone age 3 to 61 who is less than 4 feet tall (junior) or age 62 and older is $21, according to the park’s website.
