Car-show fundraiser

YOUNGSTOWN

The Youngstown State University Armed Forces Student Association will have a car-show fundraiser from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday in the M-26 parking lot at Lincoln and Fifth avenues on campus.

The event will feature awards, T-shirt sales, raffles and an appearance by YSU’s Pete and Penny the penguins.

Recycling prizes

CANFIELD

Some curbside recyclers in the city and township here will win gift certificates for local restaurants and other businesses.

Lynn Wood, Canfield recycling coordinator, and Peg Flynn, an educator with the Mahoning County Recycling Division, better known as The Green Team, will randomly choose homes that have recyclables at the curb on May collection days as winners in the “Get caught” promotion.

The recycling program collects aluminum and steel cans, plastic bottles, glass jars and bottles and paper publications.
