CHAMPION

Lindsay Swipas (11-0) pitched a four-hit shutout with 14 strikeouts and no walks to lead Champion (18-0). Swipas also had three hits, including two doubles, and three RBIs and Tawny Rogers had two hits, including a triple. Alyssa Nicholas had two hits for Lakeview. In the second game, Swipas hit a two-out, two-run single in the bottom of the seventh to lift the Golden Flashes, who are ranked first in Division III in the latest coaches poll of Ohio teams. Alison Sorber and Haley McCallister both had two-out singles in the seventh, scoring the game-winning runs. Tawny Rogers added two hits. For the Bulldogs (9-3), Alexis Neumeister had two hits.

South Range 10, United 0

BEAVER TOWNSHIP

Tab Stanton had three hits, including two doubles and Madison Yanek had two hits and three RBIs for South Range (21-3, 13-0 Inter Tri-County League Tier One). Yanek (10-2) pitched a four-hit shutout with seven strikeouts and two walks. Cassidy Yoder had two hits for United (6-8, 4-5).

Columbiana 6-1, Jackson-Milton 1-6

NORTH JACKSON

Hayley Goist and Katie Libb each had three hits and Khylea Fullum homered to lead Columbiana in the first game. Dakota DeAmicis tossed a four-hitter with four strikeouts and no walks to get the win. In the second game, Paije Kiraly pitched a six-hitter with eight strikeouts and a walk to lead Jackson-Milton (13-5). Becca Jones had two hits and Maddie Griffiths tripled and drove in three. For Columbiana (10-9), Fullum had two hits.

Mineral Ridge 6, Our Lady of the Elms 3

MINERAL RIDGE

Sophomore Alyssa Sparks had a three-run homer in the fourth inning for Mineral Ridge (6-9) during the Knock Out Cancer tournament. McKenzi Garland had a double and single, while Emily Reese, Meghan Garland, Miranda Stith and Kaitlyn Smith doubled for the Rams. Meghan Garland (6-9) struck out nine.

Lordstown 5, Mineral Ridge 1

MINERAL RIDGE

Senior Briana Sinn (9-1) had eight strikeouts and three walks during a three-hitter for Lordstown in the Softball for the Cure Tournament. Sophomore Daisy Free had two doubles, senior Heather Darocha had two singles and Melody Taylor doubled for the winners. Meghan Garland had two hits for Mineral Ridge.

Our Lady of the Elms 6, Lordstown 4

MINERAL RIDGE

Lordstown out-hit Our of the Elms, 11-7, but came up short.

Sophomores Sami Heverly and Melody Taylor had two singles apiece for Lordstown, while Daisy Free had a double and single. Also for the Red Devils (10-2), Heather Darocha had two singles and freshman Allyson Hajnosz singled.

Ursuline 16, Warren JFK 5

LIBERTY

Junior Erin Vukovich (2-0) had a six-strikeout, three-hitter for Ursuline (13-8) at Liberty Park. Sophomore Marina Bermann had two doubles and a single and three RBIs, freshman Taylor Jones had two singles and three RBIs and freshman Jerica Day had two singles and two RBIs for the Irish. Raesha Gaston, Rashein Gaston and Kayla Powell had a single apiece for JFK.

Ashtabula Edgewood 8-13, Mooney 5-14

BOARDMAN

Meghan Cunha’s eighth-inning homer lifted Edgewood (12-4) in the opener. Jamie Clausen homered and drove in three for Mooney. Katrina Larson added a homer and Marche’ Venablehad had two hits. In the nightcap, Mooney rallied from a 12-3 deficit in the third inning thanks to an 18-hit attack. Clausen’s three-run homer in the fifth tied the game at 12. With Edgewood ahead 13-12 in the last of the seventh, Clausen blasted a two-run, walk-off homer to score Shannon Saadey and complete the biggest comeback in school history. Katelyn Kowalczyk had four hits for Mooney, while Clausen, Saadey, and Simone Zeoli had three each. Mooney (14-9) is guaranteed its 19th straight winning season.

Columbia 1, Fitch 0

AMHERST

Amanda Callahan had seven strikeouts and Callahan and Mackinzee Barnes had singles for Fitch (5-8). Columbia is 13-2.

Fitch 2, Amherst Steele 2

AMHERST

In the game called in the eighth inning due to rain, Megan Carney had a double and Carly Ortz had two singles and a RBI for Fitch. Also for the Falcons, Mackinzee Barnes, Alana Callahan and Amanda Callahan all singled, while Alex Corradi had an RBI-single. Amherst Steele entered the game 10-3.
