Music, meditation mix at Mill Creek gardens program

Whether by accident or design, the tone of an outdoor gathering in Mill Creek Park and the weather seemed in perfect harmony.

Sunday afternoon’s gathering, “Sacred Dance: Meditation in Movement,” and the weather exuded tranquility and simplicity, while making it easy for many people to tap their positive energy.

“If you can move, you can do this,” said Julie Thomas, a Youngstown State University psychology professor and leader of the two-hour gentle movement and meditation program in Mill Creek MetroParks’ Fellows Riverside Gardens.

Thomas was referring to the combination of meditation, simple dance moves, chants and music in which participants were encouraged to form a deeper connection with themselves and others.
