Environmental center offers programs for kids

Jennings Environmental Education Center will host a series of programs for children this summer.

These hands-on learning experiences will introduce children to healthy outdoor activities and instill an appreciation for the natural world. All children will receive a certificate and other great materials upon completion of the series.

Registration began May 2 and can be done by contacting the center, 2951 Prospect Road, at 724-794-6011.

Age-specific programs will be offered: Hide-N-Seekers, ages 4 to 5, 10 to 11:30 a.m. or 1 to 2:30 p.m. Tuesdays, June 21-July 19. Cost is $2 per child per program. Theme: “Let’s Take a Walk.”

Outdoor explorers, ages 6 to 8, 10 a.m. to noon or 1 to 3 p.m. Thursdays, June 23-July 21. Cost is $5 per child per program or $20 for all five weeks. Theme: “Flying Friends.”

Penn’s Adventurers, ages 9 to 12, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays July 27-Aug. 10. Cost is $10 per child per program. Theme: “Outdoor Skills.”
