Community summit

YOUNGSTOWN

A community summit to address the city’s violence, blight and decay, unemployment and school unrest will be from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday at East Side library branch, 430 Early Road.

City and school leaders, clergy, and community activists have been invited to speak. Moderator is longtime city resident Abdul Harris. For more information, contact Harris at 330-747-3289 or 330-398-3697.

Harding Park event

HUBBARD

Hubbard Area Chamber of Commerce will conduct a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday to dedicate the Kyle Memorial Pavilion in Harding Park, 249 Roosevelt Drive. The gathering will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The pavilion honors Tim Kyle, 52, who died of cancer in 2009. He was a co-owner of Stewart Kyle Funeral Home, a volunteer firefighter and one-time Hubbard chief, and a member of Hubbard Community Fund.
