Pavlik beats Lopez by majority decision

LAS VEGAS

Kelly "The Ghost" Pavlik made a successful return to the ring Saturday night, defeating previously unbeaten Alfonso Lopez by majority decision at the MGM Grand.

Pavlik (37-2, 32 KOs) had not fought since losing his middleweight titles in April, 2010, to Sergio Martinez. Saturday's bout went the scheduled 10 rounds and was fought at 171 pounds — three over the super middleweight limit.

Judge Adalaide Byrd scored it 95-95, while Richard Houck had it 98-92 and C.J. Ross scored it 99-91 in favor of Pavlik.
