Mothers of Twins honor Launa Martin

Launa Martin of Berlin Center was honored recently as the 2011 “Mother of the Year” by the Youngstown Mothers of Twins Club.

She will represent the club at the annual Ohio Federation of Mothers of Twins Convention, to take place in Dayton the weekend of June 24 and 25.

Martin, who is married to Ronald Martin, is the mother of 12-year-old twins Kyle and Brandon.

This year she is serving as president of the group and has in the past served in various offices and on many committees.

Martin works part-time doing the payroll and taxes for her husband’s business. She also works part-time in the kitchen of Western Reserve Middle School, where she is active in the PTO and has participated in the Santa’s Workshop program. In addition, Martin drives school bus for Western Reserve School District.

Martin and her family attend St. James Church in North Jackson.

The honoree is known as an excellent cook, baker and hostess, who participates in a Cooking Club.

Members take turns cooking for one another during the week.

Martin enjoys traveling and car-pooling and volunteers to transport others to various events.
